As we come closer to a new year, lets take a look back at some of this years highlights.
Entering the year we debuted with a fresh look for the band, more aligned with the band's musical directions and theatrical onstage presence. Silk Spinster's wasteland warrior aesthetic will be on going and built upon in our future shows - full steam ahead with the war paint and armour!
After reaching the finals of Metal 2 The Masses in 2023, the band traveled to Leeds yet again this January to take part in the competition yet again. Managing to win through in their first heat, the band was unfortunately knocked out of the competition in the semi-finals. Later this year, however, we were voted through the Call of the Wild Trailblazer online heats and are set to be playing Bradfords' Nightrain next year for a chance to open Call of The Wild festival in Lincoln.
In March we joined the awesome Liberty Slaves, at Dewsbury Squash Club which was an insanely interesting venue, and the first time outside of Metal 2 The Masses we played in the new outfits. After Squash Club, we got the opportunity to play an event for the MT Heads MCC, down at Chester Lakes, and even made it into a spread in the Back Street Heroes magazine, which covered the event. We played again at one of their events to raise money for charity, Alongside our friends in Autonym.
In April we joined Autonym at Vortex bar in Wakefield, unaware that we would be the last bands to play at the venue as shortly afterwards they announced their unfortunate closure. Having played here a few times on our journey as a band this venue will be sorely missed.
This year we released not one BUT two singles and released two music videos, alongside these; White Lines and Midnight Life in April and August respectively, we are extremely happy with these recordings as a part of our repertoire. We had a lot of fun shooting the videos. The band had radio play on Hard Rock Hell and local radio, and featured on a few online publications after the release of Midnight Life.
After working with the talented Max, we have been working on more of our songs in order to get them release ready. Later this year we stayed in Leeds to finalize some other tracks and to re-record two of our previously released tracks and are excited to share the updated versions of these with you all.
In October, in conjunction with Spiderhound Events, the band pulled together a line-up of some of the best bands they have played and connected with over the last two years, for RIFF RELIEF in order to help raise funds for McMillan Cancer Support, a charity personal to the band. The event raised a brilliant amount of just over 1300 pounds. With the success of the event RIFF RELIEF will be returning NEXT October.
Silk Spinster ends the year with a hometown show at O'Rileys on the 21st December. Our diary has begun filling up for next year, so get ready to rev it up with us in 2025!
